A native of Poland, violinist Dominika Dancewicz has performed on the world’s most prestigious concert stages including the Berlin Philharmonic, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and Carnegie Hall in New York. Ms. Dancewicz has been hailed as "passionate and charismatic", and her performances described as "tour de force", "powerful and thought provoking".
Her recording credits include Dux, Navona and Deutsche Grammophon labels.
Currently Ms. Dancewicz lives in Houston, TX, where she actively performs as a solo and ensemble artist, and provides highly sought-after violin lessons.
An avid chamber musician, she has performed in an array of music groups in Europe, Asia and the United States. She is the founding member of the Axiom Quartet, currently the String Quartet-In-Residence at the University of St. Thomas in Houston. After releasing their sensational debut CD titled "Axioms: Moments of Truth" featuring diverse music of all genres and styles, the group sold out on Amazon.com within the first day. Axiom Quartet went on their first international tour of China in the summer of 2018.
Ms. Dancewicz is also a renowned recital artist. She regularly performs with pianist Donald Doucet as Duo Dramatique (formerly The Dancewicz-Doucet Duo). The Duo released their first CD in January of 2018. Their debut album with Violin Sonatas by Elgar, Mozart and Debussy has been featured on Houston Public Media and has garnered critical acclaim in the United States and Europe.
Duo Dramatique is garnering steadily growing attention for their powerful, thought-provoking recitals in Texas and beyond. In 2019 The Duo has performed debut recital at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio to enthusiastic acclaim. They have also performed the highly anticipated program of five premieres by five Houston-based composers at Rice University's Duncan Recital Hall in November of 2019. The concert has been featured in Houston Chronicle.
Ms.Dancewicz has performed with the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, Houston Ballet, Foundation for Modern Music, Opera Vista, Musiqua, Aperio, Shreveport Symphony and the Victoria Bach Festival, to name just a few groups. She is also on the roster of the Houston Latin Philharmonic and the Classical Music Institute Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio (CMI). Ms. Dancewicz has been recently appointed the concertmaster of the Opera in the Heights orchestra in Houston. She has been featured as one of the Texas String Divas in Arts+Culture Texas Magazine in 2018.
Ms. Dancewicz is a highly sought-after teacher, with students consistently winning placements in All-state and Region orchestras. In addition to maintaining a busy private studio, she is the violin faculty at the University of St.Thomas in Houston, TX. She is also the faculty member of the Houston Youth Symphony Melody Program providing violin lessons to under-priviledged students in the Houston area.
