"CROSSROADS" is Duo Dramatique's second commercial release. Published on national label Navona Records (Parma Recordings) in November 2021, this CD is a radical departure from the thoroughly classical repertoire on The Duo's debut album released in 2018. The disc contains three substantial new pieces commissioned by and composed especially for Duo Dramatique (Dominika Dancewicz, violin & Donald Doucet, piano). The jazzy "Sonata for Violin and Piano" by Art Gottschalk is based on three jazz violin virtuoso styles of the 20th Century - Grappelli, Frigo and Venuti. The dramatic post-modern "Sonata in D" by Karl Blench contains elements of parody and hauntingly virtuosic expression. Lastly, "Insistent Music" by Turkish composer Erberk Eryilmaz is a suite of five short dances infused with whirling folklore of Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The virtuosity and diversity of this new album is already generating enthusiastic reviews and substantial airplay on the national and international media platforms.
